3 Types Of Grants Available Through SLAA:

  1. TUITION ASSISTANCE GRANTS

Purpose: Tuition Assistance Grants support youth in congregations of the South Atlantic District of the WELS, and Circuit 1 of the ELS, who are pursuing Christian secondary education in a qualifying Lutheran high school such as LPS or MLS. Grants are applied for by parents and applied to student tuition accounts to help reduce the cost of their education.

Eligible Applicants: Students entering grades 9-12 that are members of a WELS South Atlantic District or ELS Circuit 1 congregations and will be attending a WELS / ELS affiliated high school or preparatory school as a full-time student.

Dates: Tuition Assistance Grant applications are accepted from January 1st to April 15th. Awarded funds are disbursed to the school on behalf of the student after the school year begins in the fall.

2. EDUCATION GRANTS


Purpose: Education Grants support youth in congregations of the South Atlantic District of the WELS, and Circuit 1 of the ELS, by funding programs in their associated Lutheran middle or high schools. Education Grants might be used to enhance Christian classrooms, teaching tools and curriculum, technology, music, and more. These Grants are intended to benefit adolescents in Grades 6-12.

Eligible Applicants: All WELS South Atlantic District and ELS Circuit 1 congregations.

Dates: Education Grant applications are accepted annually from January 1 through April 15, with awarded Grants typically disbursed in June.

3. YOUTH MINISTRY GRANTS


Purpose: Youth Ministry Grants assist congregations in the South Atlantic District of the WELS and Circuit 1 of the ELS who are carrying out adolescence ministry programs or events. Youth ministry grants can be used in many different ways, for example: mission trips, camps, recruitment trips / tours of synodical schools, etc.

Eligible Applicants: All WELS South Atlantic District and ELS Circuit 1 congregations.

Dates: Youth Ministry Grant applications are accepted annually from January 1 through April 15, with awarded Grants typically disbursed in June.
